Work Health and Safety Policy
Introduction
This policy sets out Growth Collective’s commitment to the health and safety of its workers, clients, workshop participants and any one else who may be affected by its work.
Scope
This policy applies to all of Growth Collectives workers, including employees, contractors and subcontractors.
Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to:
Provide a framework for managing work health and safety (‘health and safety’) risks in the workplace.
Outline the Growth Collective’s commitment to continuously improving its approach to health and safety.
Promote a culture of safety and well-being.
Comply with all applicable WHS laws and regulations.
Policy Statement
Growth Collective is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace for its workers and all other persons who may be affected by its work. This commitment is based on the belief that all workers have the right to work in a safe and healthy environment.
Responsibilities
The following are the responsibilities of Growth Collective under this policy:
To identify and assess health and safety risks in the workplace.
To implement and maintain appropriate health and safety controls to eliminate or minimize risks.
To provide workers with information, training, and instruction on health and safety matters as needed.
To consult with workers on health and safety matters.
To monitor and review the effectiveness of its WHS management system.
The following are the responsibilities of all workers and workshop participants under this policy:
To take reasonable care of their own health and safety and the health and safety of others.
To cooperate with the Growth Collective to comply with all health and safety requirements.
To report any health and safety hazards or incidents to one of the Directors of the Growth Collective.
The following are the responsibilities of the Growth Collective’s Board of Directors under this policy:
Ensuring that the business has a health and safety management system in place and that it is tailored to the specific hazards associated with the business's activities.
Monitoring the effectiveness of the Growth Collectives health and safety management system.
Ensuring that the Growth Collective complies with all applicable health and safety laws and regulations.
Promoting a culture of safety and well-being within the business.
Health and Safety during Workshop Procedure
The Growth Collective has put in place the following processes to ensure the health and safety of participants during workshops:
At the start of each training, the facilitator outlines the emergency exit procedure
For virtual workshops, the Growth Collective collects the contact details for emergency contacts to support participants virtually in an emergency
The Growth Collective facilitators are aware of and manage safety risks in the workshop room (including trip hazards etc)
The Growth Collective has a code of conduct which outlines its approach to ensuring the psychological safety or workers, clients and participants.

Incident Investigation Procedure
Incidents will be investigated by the Growth Collective (whether reported or self-identified).
In most cases, the Growth Collective will appoint an appropriate leader to investigate the incident. If necessary, an external investigator will be appointed.
The purpose of the investigation will be to identify hazards and improve the Growth Collective’s approach to health and safety, in line with its commitment to continuous improvement. The investigator will collect relevant information and make findings about the cause of the incident and may make recommendations about any changes that the Growth Collective should make to its health and safety processes.
Investigations will be conducted in line with principles or procedural fairness and will be treated as confidentially as possible.
Review
This policy will be reviewed and updated as required, but at least once every two years.
